A small way to make a BIG difference ...

It’s been a hard year for many people in  Thurston County. Unemployment is up. Calls to the 2-1-1 helpline have greatly increased – especially for food, utility and rental assistance. Our local food banks are seeing double digit increases in clients, and homelessness has grown by more than 50 percent. Social service agencies are struggling to meet increased needs at the same time that many have seen their revenues decline. 

United Way is asking you to consider a small way to make a big difference through GIVE $10 TELL 10.  GIVE $10 TELL 10 is built on the premise of asking people to make a small contribution and to ask at least 10 friends to do the same.

Thanks to a generous individual donor, United Way will match gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000, to support local programs addressing hunger and homelessness.

Small gifts really can make a difference. For example: 

• $10 buys food to keep a child fed over the weekend, until they can access their school’s free meal program on Monday.
• $10 buys lunch for four low-income seniors.
• $10 from you and 10 friends will help a local family stay safe, sheltered and fed for a week.

All money raised will help local individuals and families get back on the road to recovery.
