United Way of Thurston County’s Board of Directors has hired Paul Knox as the new Executive Director for the organization. Mr. Knox has been a United Way Board member since 2008. During the past four years he has led the launching of the asset-building movement in
Washington
State . As the founding Executive Director of the statewide Washington Asset Building Coalition, he helped build a network of 15 local asset building coalitions with hundreds of member organizations from all sectors and has worked with several United Ways in
Washington
State , who have been integral players in the majority of these coalitions.
Mr. Knox is committed to United Way’s approach on community impacts and solutions and understands the opportunities and challenges that exist for
Thurston
County . “After years in positions focused on statewide leadership and actions, I am very excited about the prospect of working full time to benefit my community,” he states. “I have a passion for the mission of United Way, for improving the lives of low and moderate income people and for bettering our
Thurston
County community.”

United Way’s retiring Executive Director,
Pam Toal , will continue serving in the position until December 18th.
