INDIAN SUMMER GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
CELEBRITY EMCEES, NANCY LESON & DICK STEIN
FOUR-COURSE GOURMET MEAL
SILENT & LIVE AUCTION
Straight from the Heart is United Way of Thurston County's annual dinner party & celebration.
Your support helps United Way of Thurston County continue our mission:
Improve lives, strengthen our communities, and advance equity by mobilizing the caring power of people in Thurston County.
Once again, our emcees are Nancy Leson and Dick Stein. Each week Nancy and jazz DJ Dick Stein offer “Food for Thought” on KNKX (88.5 FM radio) as they laugh and argue, share cooking tips and recipes and bring their private kitchen conversations into the lives of their listeners.
Nancy Leson is an award-winning food writer, radio personality, cooking instructor and public speaker who learned much of what she knows about food during her first career: waiting tables. Readers embraced her as the longtime restaurant critic and food columnist for The Seattle Times, where her byline appeared for nearly two decades. Today she conjures recipes and rejoinders as Food for Thought on Seattle NPR-affiliate KNKX. A popular emcee, she's also hosted international food tours for Earthbound Expeditions and teaches cooking classes at PCC Cooks throughout the Seattle area. She lives 15 miles north of the Space Needle with her husband, son and a couple of well-fed dogs.
Dick Stein has been with KNKX since January, 1992. His duties include hosting the morning jazz show and co-hosting and producing the Food for Thought feature with the Seattle Times’ Nancy Leson. He was writer and director of the three Jimmy Jazzoid live radio musical comedies and 100 episodes of Jazz Kitchen. Previous occupations include the USAF, radio call-in show host, country, classical and top-40 DJ, chimney sweep, window washer and advertising copywriter.
