Shelter Shower - Drive Up & Drop Off Event!

On Thursday, December 16, from noon to 3 p.m., the community is invited to make a difference at United Way of Thurston County's Drive-Up Shelter Shower.

Shelter Shower is when the community "showers" two local shelters with household goods. This year, UWTC has selected SafePlace and Family Support Center of South Sound to shower. Both organizations have detailed Wish Lists with items they need to support families in crisis — diapers, towels, laundry detergent, gift cards, children's books and more. Here’s how the Shelter Shower will work this year:

1.    Click here to view the Wish Lists

2.    Shop for the items you wish to donate

3.    Drive Up and Drop off at United Way on December 16 between noon and 3 p.m. Volunteers will meet you at your car and help you unload. Please do not wrap gifts. We will need to sort and organize donations. If you do not have time to shop, you can donate gift cards or you can donate online here. Please fill out this form or print this form and bring it with you! It helps us track donations. Thank you!

Last year the event transitioned from an in-person event to a drive-up event due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The outpouring of community support was unprecedented—the community donated $15,000-worth of items shelters needed to support families in crisis.

"Our community's generosity during this time of crisis is humbling," said Chris Wells, United Way of Thurston County's Executive Director. "Every year, we are overwhelmed by gratitude for our community."

Anyone unable to attend this year's Drive-Up Shelter Shower can coordinate the drop-off by calling United Way at (360) 943-2773 OR by donating to United Way here.
