Why is United Way of Thurston County dissolving?
After thoughtful review and careful financial analysis, our Board of Directors determined that dissolving operations is the most responsible path forward. This decision ensures we can honor commitments, steward remaining funds with integrity, and allow aligned community partners to continue critical work in Thurston County.
When will operations officially conclude?
United Way of Thurston County will formally dissolve by March 31, 2026.
What happens to current programs?
All funds raised through March 15, 2026, will directly support:
- The Residential Construction Academy at SPSCC
We are working closely with the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound and the SPSCC Foundation to responsibly steward remaining funds to support initiatives in Thurston County.
Will services stop immediately?
No. We are honoring all current commitments and working with partners to ensure a smooth transition for program participants.
What happens to the remaining funds?
Remaining funds will be managed in partnership with:
- Community Foundation of South Puget Sound
- SPSCC Foundation
These funds will continue to support aligned education and workforce efforts in Thurston County.
